Allen Elishewitz

Allen was born in Texas but spent most of his childhood living in Southeast Asia. During that time, he began to appreciate the way people their lives with minimal infrastructure. This helped shape Allen’s approach to life and training. He has always trained in some type of combative arts since he was 10 years old to include, Okinawan Te, Thai Boxing, Northern Shaolin and Kali. Over the decades he has had the pleasure of studying and training with some of the best instructors in their fields in both martial arts and firearms. That includes a stint as a Recon Marine with 4th Recon C Company. Allen began making knives in 1988 and has specialized in tactical and defensive blades with constant innovation and refinement over the years. Throw in watch making, tool making, and a host of other arts and manufacturing, Allen is the real deal!

What was your first knife?

My first knife was a bowie I purchased at Eckerd Drugstore when I was 11 years old. Now thinking back I can't believe they sold it to me, that sucker was huge. The good old 70's were wild. 2. Do you collect anything, or have a hobby that consumes you?

I collect cool European manual machines, tooling, injuries and firearms.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what is it?

Living in Thailand as a teenager has left me with a real love of Thai food. Valerie and I have taken classes with a Thai chef to learn the traditional way to make a variety of dishes, in particular street foods.

What is your favorite movie?

Tropic Thunder, a cinematographic masterpiece right up there with The Godfather and Gone With The Wind

What’s the worst movie you have ever seen?

Gone Fishing; I can't even believe I spent money at the theater for that!

If money is no object, do you build the ultimate overland rig, or a high horsepower pavement monster?

Definitely an overland rig. If the zombie apocalypse happens, I am going to need that rig to bug out.

Do you carry the same EDC items daily or do you mix it up?

Most of it is the same and in the exact same location. I will mix up the folder as I am testing different models. I also rotate pistols between 2 families: Glock 17 type and SIG P365.
